Rosewood London

The sensitive renovation of the Edwardian Grade II-listed Rosewood London has created a luxury hotel with the ambiance of a stylish London residence.

Set just steps from Covent Garden and blending English heritage with contemporary sophistication, Rosewood is one of the finest five-star hotels in London. Inside, the lavish interiors are fitted out with Cuban mahogany and seven types of marble. The lengthy restoration project followed original designs wherever possible with missing details being carefully replicated and replaced throughout the hotel.

The specification included ironmongery matched as closely to the existing and refurbished ironmongery for Heritage doors on the first floor, bespoke IBMA, PB and PSS wall plates with black perspex windows to hide the Vingcard wall readers, the sliding door gear and bespoke flush pulls for all sliding doors within the bedroom, wardrobe ironmongery including black Tectus hinges, hanging rails & sockets and cabinet handles and the access control for the Manor House wing with its own street entrance and stairwell access.

We also supplied suited cylinders to tie in with the existing suite. With the previous supplier of suited cylinders no longer being in business, we had to take over the suite registration under the hotel’s instruction. Specialist Harmon hinges were procured from the US manufacturer, these are designed to be hidden when the doors in the salon areas are open and we had to ensure that the concealed closers fitted to some of these doors would work with the pivoting geometry of these hinges.

New pull handles had to be made for the bar area’s whisky display cabinets based an old handle sourced by the designer from a US salvage yard and new door knobs were cast from existing handles fitted to Heritage doors in the Courtyard. Fittings specified for the restaurant drawers and cabinets had to be sourced and then refinished them to an antique brass patina and existing stair rods had to be refinished to IBMA & PB. We were also responsible for co-ordinating finishes throughout as the project consisted of IBMA, AB, PB, PSS/PN and SSS.

The architect for the project was EPR and the main contractor was Beck Interiors.
